Ahoy, matey...
Rhett turned 8 months old last Thursday but it took me this long to find a decent 8.

When you have trash in one hand and a dirty plate in the other...
and you put the trash in the sink and the plate in the trash....
you're really hurting from sleep deprivation.
Taking a picture, uploading the picture, and posting the said picture may just zap the remaining iota of energy that still remains.
So ya...here you go.

33/53, teeth and renewed independence

Teefers!!

Yesterday and today I went to the mall in Sindelfingen. Yesterday I went because I wanted to go to H&M and look at some things and today because I had to return some things that I shouldn't have bought yesterday. Both days I went by myself (well, with a baby in tow... but since he can't tell me how awful a shirt looks or talk about the crazy people we see at the mall I'm not counting him as a plus one here).
I usually prefer to go shopping with someone else. Shopping is the ideal group activity. Plus, it's always helpful to have someone (I mean my husband) push Rhett around while I shop the sale racks and try on a variety of items in the dressing room. If it's not my husband, I usually go with a friend. Nothing says 'lovely afternoon' like a lunch with a girlfriend and a few new purchases. I also usually like to shop or go out in Deutschland in a group. Power in numbers, people. Maybe it's because even after 2 years and 4 months in Germany it still does not feel like home. I sometimes wonder (and may have learned to accept) that this is my coping mechanism for the life we plan to lead. More than likely, Chad and I will be moving pretty darn frequently. It's possible this mechanism will in turn make moving easier. I don't know. What I do know is that every time my husband leaves for any significant period of time I always have a renewed sense of independence. Even when it comes to little things like checking the mail and putting gas in my car (both of which my husband usually does) I feel a little more empowered than before. Going places and doing things.... whatever they may be... by oneself does something good to restore the independence and strength that you know you have but that you seldom initiate because it's more fun to be with your significant other (which is true).
Although it's a lot more enjoyable watching your husband gag as he removes a gelatinous hairball from the shower drain or when he has the pleasure of enduring the smell of week old trash on his drive to work in the morning, there is something said about being able to tackle those tasks when he can't.
I still got it.
Better yet- I do all that while taking care of a baby, a house, and two dogs in a foreign country while working.
It's just the life of another military spouse.

29/53 plus fever

Little man has requested no photos today. He has a little fever and isn't feeling himself. Plus, he had a really adorable outfit on earlier (that may have included a shirt with a Boston Terrier on it) but he barfed all over it while at daycare. So, enjoy this throw back and hopefully Rhett will be back to his model-like self tomorrow!

28/53

Today, I am the mom who posts a snotty face photo for the world to see on her blog AND who allowed her son to watch a 'baby sign' movie 4 times today.
Don't judge.
I use to believe in no t.v. before two but that was before I was left alone for 4 weeks with a teething 7 month old that cried all day except when watching the above mentioned movie.
I also use to think my baby would always have a clean and snot free face...
now I'm just trying to not piss the baby off.

27/53

Let me start out by saying I love this little face.
With that said, I wish the teething business would slow down a bit.
I can do without it. Especially right now. Being alone.
Nothing makes you feel more lonely than having snot wiped all over your shoulder (all day long), then thrown up on (twice) all while running on just a couple hours of sleep.
And of course when I REALLY want to yell at someone (because I can't help it) I look around and see two canines and a baby.
It's at this point that I'm reminded that yelling is pointless.
So we get a teether and power on.

26/53

Not just any 'day 26' but a very special day indeed.
My wonderful husband turned 26 today and in celebration (if you can call it that)
Rhett sprouted two baby teeth.
Since this discovery this morning we've both been miserable (Rhett and myself).
Teething sucks.
Chad's birthday present is not being here to endure the misery.
Happy Birthday my love!

25/53 & Spring!

Today offered some of the best weather we've had in Germany this year. It was so very beautiful. Rhett and I enjoyed it while walking around post to check our mail and pay Chad's (ahem) parking ticket.
We drove the long way home through the countryside... we passed some tulip gardens and some orchards before stopping by Lidl for baby food.
Rhett loves his Deutsch baby food.
As we approached our home, we had to creep up our street because there on Wiesentalstrasse was a wagon pulled by two horses. Kids were lining up the block for a ride.

Today, Rhett and Meatloaf played bumper cars in our laundry baskets.
Rhett loved it.
Meatloaf did not.
He was a good sport though.

21/53

Rhett went to a pool party today. He had an awesome outfit on- including these shades.
Unfortunately, it was indoors and SUPER hot so Rhett left wearing only his onesie.
You get the point though.
He's just so cute!

20/53

Rhett would like everyone to know that despite having the cutest smile on the continent of Europe he really did not want to sleep last night.
So he didn't.
