Let's just pretend I was never gone.

----
For the past month we did some of this...
Lots of this...
Lord knows too much of THIS...
Enjoyed this...
definitely this...
this (minus the allergies part)...
and a little too much of this. Seriously. Too much of a good thing.
----
Somewhere between December and February we started feeling really out of sorts.
Bad news. Bad news. Bad news. Miscarriage.
By February 15, we needed a break. Officially.
The only place to go when you're like that is "home."
You know... the home where you grew up in.
Where it doesn't matter how it's changed since you've left- it still feels the same.
Where you know the back streets.
The neighbors.
Oh, You know that place.
So that's where we have been... doing all sorts of things fabulously outside of our routine.
And although there is so much to share, and I promise I will,
jet lag has gotten the best of me today.
But tomorrow has promise.
Until then...

All our young lives we search for someone to love, someone to make us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope, all the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, someone perfect is searching for us.

The best love is the kind that weakens the soul, that makes us reach for more, that plants fire in our hearts and brings peace in our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever.

Vanishing Act Part Deux (and now it's getting ridiculous)

It's not my fault.
I don't know why but it seems like we've been in a perpetual rough patch for months now.
I'm trying to remain hopeful and hopefully with spring there will be a turn around.
Until I figure out how to put a spin on what I've just been through (I'm not in the mood for a deep post ya know?), I leave you with a little peak into the last 5 days.
If 5 days on bed-rest taught me anything, it's just that I'm thankful for my health.
and my friends.
and my husband.
and my son.
and their health.
oh...

and that sometimes things happen.
we don't know why they happen.
we never will.

but you can't lose hope.
so we won't.

Hope is the feeling we have that the feeling we have is not permanent.

Saturdays

I love Saturdays.
It's my favorite day of the weekend.
I look forward to it all day Friday and it always reminds me that I still have an entire day left of the weekend tomorrow.

I woke up this morning to the stirring of a little man. When I finally looked at the clock and realized he definitely wasn't going back to sleep... we did our morning routine and headed down to the kitchen.
Because Rhett is awesome he likes to pull out his highchair and scale it's side to alert me to the fact that he's been awake for 8.5 minutes and hasn't been fed yet.

He wasn't that crazy about his cottage cheese and fruit breakfast but he ate three slices of pumpkin chocolate chip bread so it was okay. Isn't that what every good mom feeds her kid at 8 in the morning?
After breakfast we danced to the "great movie music of all time" because it was on AFN and we were totally digging it.
Then we dog-piled on top of Daddy and the dog because it's fun.
You've never felt more loved than when you're at the bottom of a wife and baby dog-pile.
Trust me.
Only after we reached our saturation point for laziness we decided to get dressed and go to the store to buy things we don't really need.
You know... like a movie, dryer balls (those plastic balls that are supposed to speed up your drying process), and girl scout cookies.
We seriously could have done without the dryer balls but those are just the types of things you do on a Saturday.

"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."

-Bill Watterson

Wishing you an equally exciting Saturday.

Nove Finds

If you have no interest in what you can buy in Nove and for how much, just skip this post.
Just sayin'
--------
Nove.
If you go there, you can buy Butler's Pantry by Lenox for 18 Euro.
I don't own any Butler's Pantry but this dish goes well with my French Countryside dishes that I use all the time.
Seemed like a good fit.
Also, I got this green bowl (totally out of character for me) for 5 euro!! It was in the 'clearance' section because it has a small chip in the bottom.
We use it as a salad bowl just about every day.
Should have bought more.
These trays I bought in honor of my favorite season, fall.
The large tray was around 18 Euro and the two part plate was 15 Euro.
I had Thanksgiving dinner in mind for both!
I bought a lot of cake plates. I'm not going to lie. This is the smallest of the three. It's Vietri and it cost... I have no idea... I can't remember. Less than 20 Euro.
The two other cake plates I bought for 30 Euro (total) and they make an appearance in this post. The Tiffany cake plate was 25 Euro and the other no-name plate was 5 Euro.
(The fruit bowl in this post was also on clearance for 5 Euro. I can't make this stuff up.)
I bought this ceramic pot for 20 something Euro and the little ceramic bird for 3 Euro.
I had a mild obsession with birds on this trip as well.
There are three birds that are upstairs that will not be featured.
Makes my obsession look less like one.
Speaking of birds, my pride of Nove.
My rooster.
How I love thee.
You complete my dining room.
We named you.
Cock-a-doodle-dundee.
I don't know where we come up with these things.
20 Euro. Small rooster 2 Euro.
Lastly (I think), a little something to hold my Russian pot holders. Less than 5 Euro.

Do you see why I love Nove?
