#7 Esslingen Christmas Market

I think everyone and their grandma had the same idea as us in regards to spending a Saturday afternoon at the Esslingen Christmas market. The city of Esslingen is beautiful... we should know because we drove circles around downtown about 5 times looking for available parking. I knew this market would be crowded on a weekend but I didn't expect it to be like this. Esslingen Christmas market is very popular in our area because not only is it a Christmas market, they also have a medieval portion where people dress in medieval garb and cook things over open flames. Anything 'medieval' will draw a crowd in Germany and this market was no exception. I'm not sure what the appeal is but apparently gluhwein tastes better out of a clay mug and meat on a stick hits the spot.
We each had a knoblauch brot (garlic bread) with an assortment of toppings and gluhwein. Chad also purchased a thing of pork wrapped around a skewer with bacon (?).
Overall, this market was definitely UNIQUE and I think we would go again next year but maybe on a weekday in hopes of avoiding some of the crowds.

Everything in Germany reminds me of Harry Potter.
